Highlights:
Complete end-to-end solution for transmitting and receiving information from corporate data repositories to Magic Cap communicators.
Background:
Numina Systems was founded in 1995 and is primarily involved in building development tools for mobile applications. The company has a short but intense history during which it has developed Mobile App Builder(tm), a suite of tools and run-time software components that comprise a powerful system for the creation, deployment and intensive use of custom mobile applications -- programs created for the express purpose of accessing corporate or centrally located data.
Mobile App Builder enables communication from wirelessly-enabled Magic Cap personal communicators. "With Magic Cap and the Mobile App Builder, users can create mobile applications very quickly and easily without any knowledge of wireless technology or other communication issues," said Tim Mukherjee, president of Numina Systems.
Mobile App Builder includes everything that is necessary to: build programs for data access and transmission; transmit those programs to users; and manage the wireless communication between the enterprise data repository and the Magic Cap personal communicator. The product is currently in beta testing.
Application:
The Mobile App Builder suite has three components:
- Mobile App Server, the powerful communications server that acts as a nexus between the enterprise data network and personal wireless communicators. Its main function is to provide the link with ARDIS, RAM, CDPD and other wireless data services. The Mobile App Server API allows the creation of software agents, programs that run on corporate networks that service requests from mobile devices.
- Mobile App Client, the software that resides on a Magic Cap device and takes care of user interface and communication tasks.
- Mobile App Designor, the visual development tool for creating platform-independent mobile applications.
Benefits:
- Wireless communication capabilities can be added to an existing data network without a major re-engineering effort.
- Programmers do not have to learn about wireless communication and networks to create wireless applications.
- Programmers do not have to learn the Magic Cap development environments.
- Network independence: all major wireless networks are supported. Choice of network is transparent to the programmer and user.
- Wireless application deployment alleviates the administrative problems of keeping users current and supplied with the software they need, wherever they are.
