Here, a long lived process hosts agents that filter news streams, based on user preference profiles; when a 'hit' is detected, the user's agent(s) which stays at the filter place, clones a copy of itself to add the news to the user's collection at a news stand. One of the frames in a multi-frame html page checks periodically for new items and alerts the user.
