This is sort of untrue. Presto!Mail 1.0 will access a UNIX based account to retrieve your mail even if it is a POP mail account. You should still be able to get v1.0 from Active Paper. If you have a Barnes and Noble near you or a bookstore that carries Barnes and Noble products... They sell a sturdy *zippered* paperback book cover/carrier. It is made in three sizes and several colors. The material is cloth canvas, like the stuff backpacks are made of. The small one (5 x7) is a perfect fit for the PIC 2000! I think I paid $11.00 for it (in TX). I inserted a sheet of half inch thick foam padding in the cover (the way you would insert a paperback book) for a little added protection and it works just great. I bought the sheet of foam padding at a local crafts/sewing shop for $0.50. They sell it by the yard. The medium size (6 x 9) is also a good fit. It holds the PIC2000 and a couple of odds and ends (like the AC adapter). I think I paid $15.00 (in TX). It adds no noticeable weight to the PIC 2000 and is small enough to drop into my briefcase. I miss the easel built into the cover that came with the PIC 2000, but the cardboard/vinyl/snap combination couldn't take the wear and tear.
