Is this normal? That changed for me too. Using Plink it was MC Discussion List, but now it's listed by the actual person who sent it. Same thing with the other mailing lists I'm subscribed to. > After using PrestoMail a few weeks, one thing is > clear. I miss PLS badly. Collecting or sending > mail at night on WorldNet is hopeless. One work-around -- and I'm not sure if this is actually legitimate -- I find that connecting to my ISP using Links and then popping back to the inbox to collect mail (while still connected thru Links) seems to be more reliable. Don't know if this is just an illusion, but it seems to work for me. The main drawback is that you have to remember to disconnect thru Links when you're done collecting your mail. Otherwise it just stays connected. Good luck. I'm hoping we'll see a lot of improvements with 2.0. Mike mroeser@earthlink.net

As a VERY recent ML user, I never had the pleasure of using PLS so I don't know what I am missing. For myself I use AOL. Why? Because it is easy, I was already on AOL, the ML seems to even like AOL. There are problems. For one thing AOL does not seem to be supporting their ML connection. I have reported the problem with the news updates. It has been a few weeks so far and I still have seen no improvement. Also, I would dearly love to do that automatic namecard updating 'thang', and not being able to sent/receive the graphics limits one of the more fun aspects of the ML. However (and this is just a wild idea here) might it be possible to get the coding for the program that PLS used and set up a number of ML friendly ISPs that use the old PersonaLink package in the ML. Sure, we would have to get something agreed to by ATT, but surely even that might be possible. Just a thought.

Subject: Pocket Quicken
OK, now its personal. One of the main reasons I wanted a ML was so I could use Pocket Quicken. However, for some reason unknown to man or nature, Pocket Quicken was not included on the PIC-2000. I have called Intuit, they do not sell it directly, nor do they know how I can get it. In other words, I can not get it for love nor money. I do not understand this attitude. The development costs have already been paid. Going through a company like Outfitters Direct their would not even be any production costs. All they would have to do is rake in the money. So, I am sending out a general beseach. I KNOW that General Magic and Sony demigod/desse/s regularly read this list. Please help me find a way to get this package. I will pay any (reasonable) amount of money. (Reasonable is defined as less than the desktop application costs, lets keep some perspective.) If anyone has any ideas (short of going to my local Good Guys and using their display ML to beam the Pocket Quickent package to my ML) please let me know. Thanks, Curt Steindler

Subject: OUT DAMNED SPOT
Fellow Caps, OKay, the awaited day has finally arrived, my coupon software pack has arrived, and I've loaded Presto!Mail and Presto!Links onto my lowly PIC-1000 w/ one a one meg SRAM card (containing ONLY the six "Presto!Packs" w/ 429k available memory). So far, no problem surfing the Web at 2400 glorious bps (or should I say "Wading the Web"???). So far, no problem retrieving my mail from my local ISP. But when I go to send a "blank letter" type E mail for a test, even though I've deleted all AT&T mail from all my file cabinet folders, and even though I've deleted my old AT&T address from my name card, my Link insists on trying to send the "blank letter" type Email via the old PLink service. ARRRGH. However when I send a postcard, I'm able to change the stamp in the upper LH corner and send via my ISP. I don't get it. It is simply that Presto!Mail doesnt' support sending on anything other than a post card??? Any suggestions as to what I might do to enable me to send a "blank letter" style E-mail using Presto!Mail??? Also, although I've tried twice to put the Presto!Mail Rules onto my provider's card as per the manual, once the Rules icon "hops" onto the card, it appears forever lost and does not thereafter appear on the provider card. What should I do??? Thanks in advance to all who have been down this path before me and can assist... Dan Free

Curt I also use Quicken and wanted the Smart Wallet on the PIC. Now I use Pencell and am quite happy. Not as slick as Smart Wallet, but it works. I now have a spreadsheet app to use for other stuff like expense tracking and price comparisons. Are you aware that you also have to buy Quicken Connect ($40) to get Smart Wallet to talk to Quicken? -- Mike Lombrozo San Clemente, CA

The name cards and news updates are a bummer, but given that you can have seperate screen names and have several people share an account and that it works well, it's a deal. Also, exchaning graphics/sounds/ink etc works fine if you're going from a PIC on AOL to a PIC on AOL. It used to be only on a PIC (or MCW) to the same on PLS. Also, In box rules still work. The device is, to me, nearly as useful as always. -Boris

Two things that you can do: 1) Install the Bastille package. This wipes out all references to PersonaLink. 2) If you are sending a letter, you can view the stamp by tapping 'address', and then tapping 'show envelope'. Tap on the stamp and select the method you wish to deliver the message. To edit the message again, tap 'address' and 'hide envelope' Mike Colegate Sony Magic Link Support

Dan, Have you attempted to tap the 'Address' button, and then tap the 'Show Envelope' button, you'll have the same access to the stamp which lets you change how to send the letter. If there are multiple persons, you can tap each name and then the stamp to change each person's delivery method. >Also, although I've tried twice to put the Presto!Mail >Rules onto my provider's >card as per the manual, once the Rules icon "hops" onto >the card, it appears forever lost and does not thereafter >appear on the provider card. What should I do??? Hmm, my rules do the same, but if I sit at the card for a second, the down-arrow appears and lets me scroll down the card to the rules. Its a bit slower to appear (the down-arrow that is) than you'd expect so try sticking around for a few seconds. Otherwise, try creating a new card (you can have multiple), and place the rules icon first; then drag the already-configured POP, SMTP, etc. stamps from the old card to the new card (via the totebag). Hope this helps! :) Luke Derossi for General Magic, Inc.

[This message may have contained graphics created by a Magic Cap device on America Online.] Dan, I don't have Presto yet, but what happens if you tap 'Address', then 'Show Envelope'? Can't you change the method of sending from there? I think you can also enter construction mode, then perform a similar sequence on the stationary in the drawer to make a permanent change. Good luck, Jim

Since Intuit seems to have no real interest in further involvement in the MC version of Pocket Quicken, perhaps someone at GM could talk them into either allowing it to be distributed as shareware, or just turning it over to GM, who could sell it bundled with PQ Connect for a fair price. Personally, I think the shareware approach would be better. When you register your copy and pay the SW fee, they should give you PQ Connect free. It would be a way to move more copies of PQ Connect, and generate profit from an existing product that seems to have been abandoned. .
