1) Since PLINK is going down in a couple of days this might be a good time to post our new ISP email addresses so that others will not lose track of us. My new address is: sjipp@ix.netcom.com (Of course you could also go into the AT&T building downtown and request my name card. One is for home and the other was for MCW at work. You would get more info than that above but it would list the Netcom address too and you would not need to type it all in again...just delete the PLINK entries.) 2) I am receiving a lot of email concerning the Magic Link to Ricochet/external modem cable. Instead of sending them to me, please send those questions to Mark Pereira at: markp@bdt.com or Mperreira@aol.com 3) I am currently running some timing tests with an external 28.8 modem versus the built-in 2400 baud modem in my PIC-1000. More on this in future. I am still trying to figure this subject out as is Mark. I am concentrating on the software side while Mark is concentrating on the hardware side. It is definitely more complicated than it seems... ///////Shawn Jipp sjipp@ix.netcom.com

More on the rooms at General Magic. This informative piece of information was just sent to me by a Magician at General Magic: ***************************** Meeting rooms on the first floor have magical names. On the second floor, they're named after "famous" rabbits. On the third floor, the meeting rooms are named after Star Wars characters; "Little Tokyo" is actually Chewbacca, taken over as temporary office space. It would be possible to save that stuff if one had the luxury of a 4meg SRAM card. Then you could just copy all of the packages that you have vital or useful data stored in over to the card. Then you could wipe the memory by pulling the batteries and start fresh with Presto! When/if you eventually upgraded, you would take with you your most needed and indispensible packages, and you would not need to worry about whether the new communicator has your preferred applications in rom. Too bad GRiD didn't have a large stock of 4meg'gers: they would probably be going now for under $200.US.

Subject: Earthlink help
Since I'm having a hard time with Netcom (disconnents everytime I download e-mail), I've decided to try out Earthlink. I signed up last night, but my Presto set-up isn't working. Can someone please post what the Presto settings should be? Any special characters to add to your username (like Netcom's #)? Thanks, Mike Roeser p.s. Please hurry!

Hi Charlie, Well as a long time PIC1000 user, I think your list is dead on. From day one I have used my memory card for all storage. So all I really did was go and file all namecards to a package (to make sure none had snuck into main memory), and glance through all the scenes for things like post-it notes and such. Also long ago I moved my Pocket Quicken to a memory card, so there was no data there to back-up. Then I just pulled all the batteries and started fresh. I personally have been to lazy to try the Bastille package. I rarely go downtown, so the building bothers me not. Dear Magic, If you are connecting but it won't log you in or gives you errors, it might just be the server is busy. My node here doesn't tolerate slower connections if it's busy. Also, if it's not an Eartlink node, put ELN/ in front of your login. Hope that does it.
