In our market, the debate rages with our customers as to which is more suitable for their needs, a PDA or laptop. The split is fairly even which is a big reason why we're working with Magic Cap. -- Bruce Tong Systems Programmer Electronic Vision / Fitne Work: Phone : (614) 592-2511 Fax : (614) 592-2650 mailto:zztong@evi.ev.net http://www.ev.net/fitne Play: mailto:zztong@eurekanet.com mailto:zztong@aol.com http://www.eurekanet.com/~zztong

Magic Xchange provides a DDE server-based mechanism as a simple API so that developers only need to make a couple of straightforward calls instead of implementing a full DDE client. As to what is failing w.r.t. the FreeStyle program's use of the API, they will need to look at it in order to determine the cause of the failure. > This begs another question... Whele do I get documentation on the DDE topics, > cmds and requests supported by MagicExchange??? It can be found on the Magic Cap website (used to be under Develop/IntelliLink, I think, but they have been revamping, so it may be elsewhere now). There are docs and samples for PC, Mac and Magic Cap packages for getting data on and off of Magic Cap. It is also all on the Developers' Conference CD from last fall. I found a copy of it on the CW9 Gold Reference CD too. (I don't remember it being part of CW8, so it must have taken a break or something.) CW9 Gold Reference Cool Demos, SDKs, & Tools Tools General Magic Cool Stuff IntelliLink SDK I'll bet if Bill didn't know it was there, its probably the same version as was available on the DevCon CD. I had the chance to play around with the Pilot this past weekend. I don't think I like it very much. It is fast but very basic! It feels like a toy. I was playing around with Graffiti and I was wondering how this is in comparison to the Link? I know the Link does not have seperate windows for text and numbers, How does this work on the Link? I am not sure how much faster this is than using the keyboard. How does this work with the Scribe software? Thanks Scott Wood

This should do the trick. -Paul -------------- To subscribe from a list yourself, electronically, follow these simple steps: 1. You have to be sending the e-mail message from the account you want to receive the mailing list mail at. 2. Address a new e-mail message to: listserv@brownvm.brown.edu Note: DO NOT send the message to magiccap@brownvm.brown.edu or magicdev@brownvm.brown.edu. Mail sent to these addresses goes across the lists. 3. In the BODY (not the subject/title) of the message, type: SUB MAGICCAP or SUB MAGICDEV 4. Send the message. You should receive confirmation from the list server that you have been added to the list successfully. Here are some common commands which may be useful in managing your subscriptions to these and other LISTSERV-based mailing lists. Use these commands in the message body, and to messages addressed to listserv@brownvm.brown.edu. You can get this list by sending a message to listserv@brownvm.brown.edu with the word "HELP" in the message body: LISTSERV version 1.8b - most commonly used commands InfoOrder documentation Lists Get a description of all lists SUBscribe listname Subscribe to a list SIGNOFF listname Sign off from a list SIGNOFF * (NETWIDE - from all lists on all servers REView listname Review a list Query listname Query your subscription options SET listname options Update your subscription options INDex Order a list of LISTSERV files GET filename filetype Order a file from LISTSERV REGister full_name|OFF Tell LISTSERV about your name There are more commands (AFD, FUI, PW, etc). [This message may have contained graphics created by a Magic Cap device on America Online.] I run MCW under NT. Seems to work fine for me. Now to get VC++ apps integrated into MCW.... Suggestions, anyone? ORIGINAL MESSAGE: ...I'm curious as to whether or not MagicCap for Windows will run under NT, and if so, how well as compared to Win 95 and Win 3.x machines. Also, are there any developers who are migrating to MagicCap for Windows as an alternate/complementary platform versus standalone MagicCap devices?

This patch has been freely available all along on PersonaLink and through Sony's ML address on AOL. There is an easier and more permanent way to get it however. Eternity 1.3, and presumably any subsequent versions, has the patch incorporated in it and when you restore your personalization from Eternity it installs the patch automatically. Eternity 1.3 is freeware and can be had at Spies, and in the freeware areas on AOL and Compuserve. It is also a small package and easily mailable. If you have no other access to it and you use Presto!Mail, I would be happy to mail it to you; just drop me a card.
