Subject: Re: installing cw9
> Has anybody experienced any problems that I should be aware of. Yes... 1. Read "Targeting Magic Cap PDF" found on the Reference disk. You'll definitely want to read about "Magic Cap Projects Created Before CW9", which I believe is on page 14. 2. I still find conflicts between one of the CW extensions and the Scripting Menu Extension. I must admit a lot of ignorance in this area, as I don't know what software I have installed the Scripting Menu Extension. I think it conflicts with MetroNub, but I really haven't spent a lot of time chasing it. I've just disabled the Scripting Menu Extension. The problem I was having was I would get dropped into MacsBug during boot-up. The message was something along the lines of a conflicting ID number. 3. Paul, This method works ONLY if you have the same account number/address that you had when you signed up. I do not because my PIC1000 went pathological on me and the tech support people rebuilt my data and recommended that I sign off PLS and get a new account. I am doomed to receive this data forever because: 1) ATTPLS is going away and I cannot get my old account to give to the listserver; 2) this is my workstation and my subscription to the listserver is through BOTH my workstation (I've signed off from here) AND my ML. Now, when ATTPLS goes away, maybe... NYAAAH! The first way is to go to http://www.netspace.org/cgi-bin/lwgate/MAGICCAP/ You can do all of your mailing list maintenance there including unsubscribing. If you do it this way you aren't don't have to be sending it from the actual address you just fill in the address you want to maintain. I believe you can substitute MAGICDEV for MAGICCAP in the web address and maintain that too. The second way might work I'm not sure. It probably depends on your web browser, Presto!Links wouldn't. Change the configuration info in your web browser for your email address to what you need it to be. Then do a "Send Email" to the listserv address. Like I said this might depend on your browser. If your browser acts as your Email program too then it might not work. I just know that I once did a mailto reply to someone but it really needed to be from my friend's address so i changed the info and no one could tell the difference. When in doubt use the first method. Hope this helps. David Devaney, Jr. daviddjr@shadow.net

The latest version of Outfitters Direct is version 1.6, and it is faster than the previous versions. If you use version 1.4, the only available item in the catalog will be the latest version. Version 1.6 is now available at the Nimble web-site at www.nimble.com. Additionally, our customer support hours are 9am to 6pm Pacific time Monday through Friday. Subject: New Zaurus
I saw in the contents section in the ad for this month's edition of Mobilis magazine that Sharp has released the newest version of the Zaurus, and it has a color screen and a built in video camera! The Zaurus occupies a special place in my heart, as I almost bought one and only held off doing so because it did not offer handwriting recognition. While I was hemming and hawing about that, I tried a Magic Link, and the Zaurus was history. It seems that Sharp is leading a trend here. A handheld device (for a reasonable price) that offers video calling and/or conferencing and web browsing (and lets face it- if the thing can process full motion or even slow scan video then it is more than capable of processing and displaying web pages-and in color!) would be very popular indeed. Of course I am not terribly interested in actually laying out the bucks for a non Magic Cap device, even with glitzy features like these. I would dearly love, however, to be able to replace my PIC1000 with a MC device with a color screen, built in camera, 8-10 megs of onboard memory and flashdisk or pcmcia type 3 harddrive support. If these things can be crammed into a package the size of the Zaurus, the PIC size cases can surely be similarly tricked out. Yeah, I know it will cost more. I will pay for more when there is more for sale.

Hi Richard, No, I do not use them. But, I do not have as stringent need as you do. An $8 per month local ISP will work just fine for me. Though, I am getting real sick and tired of changing my email address, so I got amailzone alias. But, that's besides the point. I just figured that the one thing that was turely different about AT&T was that it was a phone company. Therefore it makes sense that MCI might give you what you need also. Kevin Fries
