I use an Epson 2mb s-ram card in my Envoy. When I originally purchased
Envoy it came with some Epson brochures. I picked up the card at
CompUsa about a year ago. The coolest part about it was that an Epson
2mb card cost the same as a Sony 1mb card. At the time I was using a
pic1000 and was told by Sony tech. that it may cause problems if I were
to change cards alot. I never removed the card until I got my Envoy
and made the switch.
KEY: I found out the hard way about a week ago, the s-ram battery
should be changed every six months. I went over a year without
changing it because my battery power window told me that my 'slot one
card battery is O.K.'. It wasn't and I did lose some key data. My
fault for sloppy backups.

Hmm...... on my 2000 it doesn't matter how many things i have in my
tote bag it always copies the last item in.

Me too. ML 1000, ML 2000, and Envoy 150, no problem.

There should be more option buttons on this little ML box.=20

The Epson cards work fine. I had one fail, but Epson replaced it.

Everyone having this problem please make sure that we are all on the same
page. The option dragging from the totebag ONLY works when the totebag is
closed. Option dragging it should bring out a copy of the last item in
the bag.

I can't speak for the problems that may be caused by some software
incompatibilities or whatever, but I've used Envoys with both MC versions
and never had any trouble.

Hope this helps,

For people not getting it to work at all, make sure you are not
opening the tote bag first. You need to perform the option-drag right
off the tote-bag icon. I have noticed some users open the tote bag,
then try to option-drag a specific object out of the tote-window, which
won't work.

If it still doesn't work, does just try tap-holding on the tote bag
and dragging away from it (without option), does this produce the last
item you dropped into it? If even this doesn't work, make sure you
don't have a tool selected from the tool cup; tap the tool cup icon
twice to clear the current tool.

Anyone know how to change the battery (and where to get one) in a Sony
memory card? I didn't know that this was possible.

no, option-drag works on the last item put into the tote bag, no matter
how many other items are there.

There are several other copy functions in Magic Cap. For text, just
highlight the text, then select the copy button from the pop up window.

In the tool cup, in the 'arranging' section is a copy tool that works
on just about everything. The shortcut to this tool is to option-tap
the title bar of the tool cup after you open the tool cup. This gives
access to it in scenes where it is normally hidden.

I use the tote bag option-drag most often. You are holding down the
option key until you finish the drag?

I don't know what you are doing wrong but I do know what I WAS doing wrong
- At first I was opening up the tote bag and then option dragging things
out - without success. I later found out that you have to have a tote bag
with one item in it and option the (closed) tote bag icon.

There should be documentation that came with your card on changing your
battery. If you would like I can fax or eMail you a copy of the
instructions that came with my Epson 2mb card. It's really a piece of
cake and the card has a built in backup battery so you shouldn't lose
your data during the change. Whenever your sram card is inserted in
your communicators slot the cards backup battery is charging. Great in
theory.

well that was the problem of course... My question now is, why didn't they
design it so option dragging anything out of an open tote bag will copy it?
Doesn't that make more sense? It seems like the option button should always
do *something*

thanks to everyone for all th' help. My criticism now is more of an
theoretical one.=20
The problem is that with the exception of the totebag option drag, the other
forms of copying are too slow to be efficient (of course, the pic-1000 is no
screamer. It seems that if anything was going to be fast on it, it would the
copy function.=20
Please excuse me, it is really only a very small downside to an otherwise
excellent os.=20

You can try it and buy it at Office Depot in No Va. ($350.00) along w/ keyboard ($99.00) and recharge battery ($60-$70).

The following store will order PIC 2000 from sony and sell for ($759.00) (Sorry-I don't remember the name):

The store does not have a PIC 2000 demo last time I checked.

OPTION-DRAG
Option-Drag works only while the tote-bag is closed, and on the last item
dropped in the bag. Hold down the Option button, and drag from the bag icon
at the bottom of your screen, and you'll get a copy of the last item placed
in your tote bag.

What's the big deal about this option tap discussion going on. There's too
much exciting news to be worrying about that stuff. Like for example, the
fact that the first commercial release of magic cap for windows will offer
one button sychronization with magic cap devices! Now all I need is a Windows
based PC! ( Mac User ). Or how about the fact that My magic link now has
access to such things as the Encyclopedia Brittanica( did I spell that
right?), New York Times, stocks, weather, electronic shopping malls, all
kinds of magazines and books, and much much more all for just $49.00! And all
I have to pay for is my internet account. It is just simply CRAZY not to be
so excited about this web browser. One cool thing I found out is that now I
can download magic cap programs directly on my communicator without a
desktop. Everything is starting to come together now! And with all these
Tabriz agents roaming the net, I think general magic has something big going
on here. Don't you?
