General Magic Board Member to Assume Advisory Role

SUNNYVALE, Calif., 5 August, 1996 -- General Magic, Inc. (Nasdaq:GMGC) today announced that Gregory M. Gallo, a member at the Company's outside law firm Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich, has resigned from the Company's Board of Directors and will remain an active advisor to the company.
