PRODUCT MARKETING
All positions require at least 5 years of relevant experience in software
product management and marketing and a proven track record developing,
marketing and shipping commercial software products and/or communication
services. It is essential that you have demonstrated skills and the ability to
excel in the following areas: product advocacy, product pricing, marketing
planning, competitive analysis, driving market requirements, and negotiating
and managing relationships with large OEMs. You must also posses excellent
verbal, written, presentation and influencing skills.
Reporting to the VP, Product Marketing and Strategic Planning, the Communications Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for the business management of key products and strategic initiatives.
Area of responsibility will be products that affect electronic communications over established and emerging communications infrastructures including wireless, internet, traditional telecom, and Telescript. The Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for cradle-to-death product management and business development for products in this area.
Focus of duties in the first 12-18 months will be to ensure product suite forms the correct underpinnings for making Telescript a successful standard for the internet, formulating and executing a 3-5 year plan for wireless support in GM products, and working with the TS Product Marketing Manager to develop and execute the plan to ensure TS success in the electronic marketplace.
The Manager will be expected to independently and concurrently manage projects leading to the successful development and marketing of products in their area. The successful Manager must effectively influence key internal and external influence targets to ensure timely completion and rapid deployment of market appealing products.

Compuserve and AOL, and the World Wide Web.
We are looking for a seasoned marketing manager with an outstanding track record in defining and driving software products and their overall strategies resulting in high-quality, successful commercial releases. The emphasis of this position is on product strategy, product definition, product management and product release. We are particularly interested in someone who has recently defined and shipped electronic messaging or other value-added data-communication software, and has experience developing and launching new communication services for consumers. Other relevant product experience might include multi-tasking, object-oriented operating systems, and consumer oriented applications for the Macintosh, Windows or UNIX platforms. Experience releasing products through OEM channels is essential, as well as, an engineering background preferably in software or an obvious technical aptitude, and a proven track record as a senior marketing manager/director who has effectively hired and managed groups of at least six to ten marketing professionals. Experience with retail distribution channels would be a plus.
This person will responsible for tools used by 3rd party developers and will
define and execute plans for Window's based tools. This person will also be
responsible for planning and marketing of Magic's Intercode technology.
Finally, this person will be responsible for Product Kits that are used
by our licensees to develop their products.
You will play the key role in developing and negotiating which key protocols are required for Magic Cap
system software. This is a key technical role so we are looking for you to have a technical background.
You will be responsible for the following areas: networking protocols, modem technologies, wireless
data including CDPD, flex, Reflex, and digital GSM. You will also be putting together strategic pricing,
business proposals, and long term strategies. You will further be involved with key standards bodies
which include: IrDA, PC Cards and CDPD.
Required Qualifications:
- Technical degree (EE, or Computer Science) or equivalent background
- 5 years experience product managing communications product(s)
- Clear understanding of the wireless data market
- Good understanding of protocol stacks
- Proven record of business planning and financial analysis
- Outstanding communication skills - will require high level executive presentations and
working closely with licensees.
