General Magic Launches "SoHo SoFar" Web Site

Web Site is Geared to the Needs of the Small Business User

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Oct. 14, 1996 -- General Magic, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMGC) today announced that its web site for Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) users, www.sohosofar.com, is ready for business. SoHo SoFar is a directory of on-line resources for small business, a forum for stories from small business owners, and information about Magic Cap(r) for Windows(r) 95.

The site will fill a gap for web-surfing SOHO users between large search engines which carry too much indiscriminate information, and the word-of-mouth which now guides users to valuable sites. "The SOHO user needs a catch-all place to start and finish their on-line business needs, and share experiences about the struggle and rewards of SOHO life. We made e-mail and personal organization simple with Magic Cap for Windows 95, and we're doing the same with the web," said General Magic Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Steve Markman.

The web site contains profiles submitted by small business owners sharing their successes, tips and challenges of running their own business, and how computer technology has made them more productive. The Small Business Resource Center includes information on other SOHO organizations, government sites, yellow pages and other directories, on-line magazines, supplies and service organizations, travel companies, and "Just for Fun" links to entertainment and gaming sites.

General Magic, Inc., was founded in 1990 and provides engaging, active Internet software for business professionals, developers, device manufacturers, service providers and enterprises.
